It has been some time since our last communication. I will take this opportunity to bring you up to date on what your Board is working on and some other noteworthy items.
Initially I would like to thank you for attending our Membership meeting in Fairfield in March. We had a great showing of members, signed up new members and received valuable information from our guest speakers.
As we discussed in the Membership meeting, your Board has decided to attend a circuit of trade shows this year. As a young association, we are excited to take this first step. Our first show will be in two weeks in Las Vegas at the American Towman Show. We’d like to thank Fleet Sales West for donating the booth space. If you are planning on attending, please come by the UCMCS booth to say hello and support our cause.
Dan Charlebois attended the trade show in Florida as your UCMCS representative and was the keynote speaker to TRAA to discuss our association, our initiatives and of course our video. The overall message from Dan to all the industry folks he met was that the coalition is here to promote the Slow Down Move Over Law for all industries that risk their lives as first responders. That message is for all of us, members and non members alike. Thanks Dan for taking the time out of your schedule to make an impact for the coalition and the industry.
By the way, if you haven’t heard, Dan has officially finalized his buy out from B&J Towing and Capital City for his retirement. If you haven’t done so, please send Dan a message of thanks for all he has done for our industry. We are all excited to hear what’s on the horizon for Mr. Charlebois.
Your board is moving forward to build our own training program that will meet the requirements for CHP. This training will offer additional curriculum that meets the needs of motor club towers. It will take some time to build this program but we anticipate completion early next year and training schedules to follow shortly after.
Our PR company, Ground Floor is working diligently on our behalf to bring awareness to our industry. You will see some of their work at the Vegas booth. Other news items have been posted on our web site. Speaking of PR, we are quite a bit short on our funding goals. We recently posted a corporate sponsorship letter on our web page for all of you to access and assist us in raising money. Please view the document and share with as many potential sponsors as possible.
We discussed an exclusive agreement with our insurance broker at the membership meeting. Please support your coalition by getting quotes from R.A. Storlee and Discovery Bay Health Insurance for all your insurance needs. Rob and Glenn will be donating a portion of their commissions to the coalition. Their contact information is on our web page along with our other associate members, Driver Awareness 24/7, Fleet Sales West, House of Wreckers and Employers Guardian. Please support all them.
Thank you for stepping up as members and supporting our cause. Please reach out to me or any of your board if you have any questions.
